Iranian Female Director To Shoot Goodnight Commander
Goodnight Commander, the first movie to be made by a woman director in the Sacred Defense genre will be shot in Khuzestan province beginning in September.
Movie director Ensieh Shah-Hosseini, said, The screenplay has almost been finished and presently I am preparing the pre-production of the film
The film is being produced with investment by the Sacred Defense Genre Association as well as the participation of the Art Bureau of the Islamic Ideology Dissemination Organization, she added.

Ladan Mostofi is the only professional actor playing in the film. Shah-Hosseini plans to select other actors from among the local people.
“Most of the filming will be on location re-creating the war zones in Khuzestan province, such as Kheibar, Moharram, Falahieh, and Majnun Island, the rest will be filmed at the Ghazali Cinematic Strip”, the director noted.
“This film is made based on one of my memories of Tariqol-Qods operation that led to the liberation of Bostan (a town in Khuzestan province). In 1981 I participated in this operation as a war photographer”, Shah-Hosseini said.
“Goodnight Commander” is the story of a woman reporter and a photographer at the beginning of the Iran-Iraq war. Upon reaching the war region, she is informed that the militants intend to implement an extensive operation. She accompanies the militants during all of the stages of the operation.
